SUMMER READING LISTS 2024
Each year our primary teachers and the secondary Language & Literature teachers create 'Reading Lists' for students, which we make available to all families before the start of the summer holidays. We share these reading lists throughout the year in the spirit of encouraging a love of reading in young people and to help parents who are looking for age-appropriate books for their children.
Summer 2024 Reading Lists for Primary
For younger age groups, the aim is simply to encourage children to read a few age-appropriate English-language books during the holidays to maintain and reinforce the literacy skills that they are learning in school - and to enjoy reading! The books suggested are a mixture of well-loved classics, contemporary favourites and feature both fiction and non-fiction. None of the titles listed are compulsory for this age group: we encourage children to read widely and in different forms, from comics to audio books. Happy summer reading!

Summer 2024 Reading Lists for Collège and Lycée
Students moving up to 6ème, 5ème, 4ème and 3ème:
Collège students are strongly encouraged to read at least 2-3 books over the summer holidays. The reading lists vary from well-known classics, to popular contemporary fiction and non-fiction.

Students moving up to 2nde
For the 2nde there is a list of recommended summer reading with a huge range of suggestions. They aren't compulsory but will be great preparation for your 1ère and Terminale years.
Compulsory Reading for students moving up to 1ère & Terminale: British and American Options of the BFI
Students entering 1ère this year will be following the apprentissage cultural et linguistique (ACL) of the BFI (baccalauréat français international) and will follow this through into their T° year. Compulsory texts are indicated at the links below along with recommended holiday reading.
Students: you should choose the reading list for the year group that you will enter in September 2024.
